JOHN WAKELEY
The featured artist for May is JOHN WAKELEY.
John was born in Somerset but has been a Louth resident since the mid 1990’s. He originally graduated in biochemistry and completed further studies in animal sciences before progressing a career in food production. His art references the structure and order that he observed in factory and food design, production line flows and the underlying molecular science of foods.
He draws a lot of his inspiration from the mid-century St Ives abstract artists such as Heron, Frost and Wells and the graphic designers of the 1960’s. John likes to play with colour contrast, geometry and symmetry, and in cut paper he has discovered a medium that perfectly harnesses an OCD trait that must be lurking somehere in the background!
This is John’s first exhibition in Louth following successful showings in Somerset.
