Handel's Hercules is an opera in all but name; it was written to be performed without costumes and staging like an oratorio, but Handel's history as an operatic composer shines through in the intense music and heart-wrenching drama of the piece.

The story begins with Dejanira, wife of Hercules, awaiting her husband's return from battle. She shares her anguish with the herald Lichas and her son, Hyllus, who swears to roam the Earth until he finds his father. Hercules returns home, glorious in battle and with the beautiful princess Iole in his captivity. Dejanira's joy is soon overcome with jealousy, and she decides to win Hercules back by gifting him the robe of the centaur Nessus (which is poisoned, unbeknownst to her) ultimately killing her husband. Her grief is starkly opposed to the happiness of the new couple, Hyllus and Iole, who will now rule together over Trachis.

Steve Holbrook, regarded by many as one of the UK’s top Clairvoyant Mediums, is visiting locally very shortly, and he explains how he hears the voices of our loved ones that have passed away. His ability has taken him to Theatres and Hotels around the country, and as far as the Caribbean, demonstrating his unique ability to act as a telephone exchange between this world and the Spirit world
His ability to give messages of re-assurance to people who have lost their loved ones, has been overwhelmingly witnessed by thousands over the years, and Steve says ‘It helps them understand that life continues, just simply in a different dimension’. One lady’s mum came through to her in one of Steve’s messages, and said to the daughter “don’t forget the brown Prada handbag on Friday”. The lady replied “I’m putting it in my mums coffin on Friday, she only died 5 days ago”. Who would know this information?
One of Steve’s best friends is the BAFTA Award-winner Jane MacDonald, singer and once co-presenter on ITV’s ‘Loose Women’, Channel 5’s ‘Cruising with Jane MacDonald’, and ‘Jane and Friends’. Steve met Jane in a Spiritualist Church many years ago, and predicted she would be on BBC TV as part of a cruise entertainment documentary. She didn’t believe it, but the year after it came true, and she was the star of The Cruise, the first docu-soap, and she had the biggest selling debut album of all time. She has dedicated her auto-biography to Steve, calling him her inspiration and guru, and can’t thank him enough for being there when she needs guidance. Steve always believed in Janes undeniable talent, and this was all penned in his first Autobiography, published 18 years ago – and Jane received her BAFTA Award this year!
Steve now has 4 books out, ‘Light in the Darkness’, ‘Out of this World’, and ‘Survival’, and the brand new ‘In a World of my Own’, these all offer a true insight into the day-to-day life of a working medium, Steve’s beliefs on many areas of Spiritualism, and a great background in to Steve’s life.
Steve has raised tens of thousands of pounds for charities over the years, £30000 for his local hospice in Wakefield, £5000 for MacMillan Support, and most recently our current total for PACT – a charity that helps terminally ill children and their parents across the country – is almost £30000. He is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for this charity.

The town's most established Summer Workshop returns for budding young stars aged 15 - 23 years old to show off their talents in a full-blown, West End style, musical production!

Limited to just 20 places, the participants will enjoy TWO WEEKS working with a PROFESSIONAL CREATIVE TEAM, developing performance skills, as well as working across all areas involved in theatre and media production.

Most importantly, it's the PERFECT OPPORTUNITY to get creative, expressive and have lots of fun! Regardless of any previous experience, this is an ABSOLUTE MUST for those interested in the creative arts.

Neil Diamond is an icon. His fan base in the UK is exceptionally large and loyal, and John Hylton is Europe's foremost Neil Diamond Tribute performer.
 
In 1980, Neil Diamond starred alongside sir Laurence Olivier in the film "The Jazz Singer". Neil wrote the musical score for the film and then released what became one of his most successful albums.
