Every September, a brand-new Louth Playgoers season begins at Louth Riverhead Theatre, and with it comes a carefully chosen line-up of plays, musicals and, of course, a pantomime. But how do those shows actually get picked? We sat down with this year’s President, Derek Smith, to find out what goes into shaping the season.
This September, Riverhead Theatre opens its 2025/26 season with the heart-warming, funny, and deeply moving story of Calendar Girls. Inspired by true events, this tale of friendship, courage, and community spirit became a global phenomenon, raising millions for blood cancer research and changing the way we look at bravery. Join us in Louth from September 9th–13th for an unforgettable night of laughter, tears, and Yorkshire grit.
As the 14th Annual Louth Riverhead Theatre Scratch Night approaches, we wanted to take a moment to share what makes this project so special. It’s a night we look forward to every single year, not just because of the fantastic talent on display, but because of the doors it opens for local writers and the way it connects our community.
The featured exhibitor for September at the Riverhead Gallery is the HIGH HOLME ART GROUP.
The High Holme Art Group consists of four like-minded artists, striving to move their practice forward. Through open discussion, honest and supportive criticism and imaginative experimentation, they aim to develop and learn from each other, each working toward their own personal goals.
The group comprises LAINY DALZELL, GLYNNE BULMAN, DONNA FARMER and RICHARD GLET
The featured artist for July is artist printmaker JOANNA PASS.
Inspired by her own experiences with wildlife and nature, Joanna creates illustrative handprints that are also influenced by her love for pattern, space and design. Working with relief and intaglio printmaking techniques, she spends her time observing and taking photographs before creating the final artwork back in her studio.
The joint featured artists for June are Rowland Grintals and Peter Bates.
They are members of the Trinity Art Group who meet weekly at Louth Trinity Church. They both returned to painting and drawing in retirement and enjoy art as a means of relaxation and to explore their abilities. They also both exhibit at local art exhibitions.

Our Youth Theatre is growing a strong culture of reflection and improvement. We develop drama skills through devising, performing, studying scripts, and exploring live theatre.
We stage two shows a year: a December showcase and a full July production.
Sessions run Saturdays, 9am–1pm (term-time), with input from qualified teachers and guest experts in performance, voice, and movement. Open to ages 8–18.
