Meet the Cast - Jack and the Beanstalk

Louth Playgoers Annual Pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk will be presented in January at Louth Riverhead Theatre.
From the same team that brought you Aladdin - the hugely successful Easter Pantomime - Jack and the Beanstalk blends classic Pantomime characters with hilarious skits, slapstick fun, and memorable songs and dance numbers.

We recently held auditions to find some talented performers to play the cast of characters, and we have assembled a stellar cast! So, without further ado, meet the cast of Jack and the Beanstalk:

Our plucky young hero with big dreams and an even bigger heart, Jack Trott is always ready for adventure. Jack sets out to save the village, defeat the Giant, and maybe win a princess’s heart along the way. Emma Wighton returns for her second Pantomime in Louth - a talented performer who in addition to leading Dick Whittington has also performed as The Girl in Tell Me On A Sunday for Louth Playgoers.

Simple Simon is played by Michael Courtney - who audiences will remember as Wishee Washee in our Easter Pantomime Aladdin. Simon is Jack’s daft but adorable brother. A bundle of energy, bad jokes, and good intentions, Simon’s antics keep the laughs coming from start to finish. Fresh from his brand new musical concert “You’re the Voice’ and many successful tours of ‘Mad About the Musicals’, Mike is a talent we are lucky to have in Louth.

Dame Trott is Jack’s colourful, quick-witted mum - loud, loving, and always up for a laugh. A master of mischief, mayhem, and marvellous frocks, she keeps spirits high even when times are tough. Audiences may know Derek Hodges from numerous comedic plays or murder mysteries in Louth or at the Caxton Theatre, but he finally gets to realise his ambition of playing the Pantomime Dame.

Cheryl Lamming plays Fleshcreep - the Giant’s sly and sinister servant, who revels in causing chaos. Full of dark charm and delicious evil, he’s the baddie everyone loves to boo. You may have seen Cheryl recently as Cora in Calendar Girls, as Mrs TeeVee in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or perhaps even as the Princess in last year’s Pantomime where she came on as an emergency understudy to save the day!

Laura Harris LOVES being a Pantomime Fairy - and we love having her warmth and talent in the show! Fairy Beansprout is a sparkly, green fingered fairy with plenty of heart and a touch of cheek. She’s Jack’s magical guide, always one rhyme and a sprinkle of fairy dust ahead of trouble.

Kind, brave, and full of charm, Princess Gillian proves she’s more than just a pretty princess. With courage and compassion, she stands up to villains and cheers Jack on his journey. Precious Stewart-Coates - a talented actress and dancer who has performed in many Janice Sutton Theatre School (Skegness) productions joins us in her first show for Louth Playgoers to portray the princess.

Louth Playgoers regulars Ayla Adams and Michelle Browne will be positively joined at the hip as they take the stage as the Lord Chamberlains - the royal heralds with plenty of pomp, pride, and a dash of chaos. Full of fuss and fluster, they bring royal announcements, fanfares, and laughs in equal measure.

And perhaps the most fun part of all in any Pantomime (oh, yes it is!) Ruby Hall and Lucy Bryson will be moo-ving around the Louth Stage as Daisy the Cow. She is Jack’s loyal companion and silent superstar. Whether dancing, daydreaming, or dodging buckets, Daisy’s gentle heart and comic timing are sure to steal every scene.
