NOTE: This production is made up of two new one-act comedies as part of our New Writing Scheme. Both shows will be rehearsing as part of the same schedule and will both be directed by the same director. Therefore, we are open to the idea of actors being in both productions, should they wish to audition for both. (example: the actor playing Josh in the first show, could then play Judas in the second show.) Due to differences in cast size, this is not possible for all actors.
Synopsis:
Eddie and the Angel
Recently made redundant, Eddie feels under pressure to find another job. His wife Kay just can’t help ‘managing’ Eddie the way she manages her colleagues at work. And when he believes a goldfish is talking to him, they both start to doubt his sanity.
The Good, The Bad and The Watsons
Entry into Heaven isn’t easy these days, especially for the Watsons. Budgets, equal rights and complex admin present challenges …and that’s just for the staff! Can Sandra and Colin navigate the red tape before passing through the hallowed portals? And in so doing, what will they discover about each other even in the afterlife? This is a heavenly comedy with some hellish revelations…

Characters:
Eddie and the Angel
EDDIE FINCH: Lead. Male, 40s-60s. Easy going. Recently made redundant, feels he 'ought' to get another job.
ANGEL (VO): Lead. Female, 20s-30s. Sassy, but vulnerable underneath. She is banking on Eddie's kindness to save her and her offspring.
NOTE: THIS ACTOR WILL BE A VOICE ACTOR OFF STAGE.
KAY FINCH: Lead. Female, 30s-60s. Eddie’s wife. Efficient. A born 'manager' but that spills over into home life too.
JOSH FINCH: Supporting. Male, late teens to 20s. Eddie's nephew. His father (Eddie's brother) died a few years ago. Looks up to Eddie.
MISS GOODLEY: Supporting. Female, any age. Pedantic. Doing her job properly gives her validation. (Can be doubled up with Angel).

COLIN WATSON: Lead. Male, 40s-60s. A self-justifying, slightly cowardly estate agent who died in a car crash with his wife.
SANDRA WATSON: Lead. Female, 40s-60s. Colin's sharp-tongued, sarcastic wife, killed in the same crash.
PETER (formerly "Saint" Peter): Lead. Male, 20s-60s. Cheerful, slightly harried heavenly receptionist/admin type, like an enthusiastic young vicar crossed with a customer-service manager.
JUDAS: Lead. Male, 20s-60s. Peter's eager, slightly dodgy assistant on a redemption scheme.
SATAN: Lead. Male/Female, 20s-60s. Suave, upper-class, dryly witty devil with a love of crosswords and a flair for mischief-making.
CINDY BARLOW: Supporting. Female, 20s-30s. Colin's younger girlfriend/personal trainer. Bubbly, a little dim, fashion- and fitness-conscious, prone to malapropisms and emotional outbursts.
